SO WHAT HAPPENS NOW?
America, it's finally over: George Bush has been re-elected as President of the United States. We at JPFO wish him all the luck in the world. With the kind of world we live in, he's going to need it. Now the question on everyone's mind is, "So what happens now?"
MORE OF THE SAME
Are things going to change for the better? If the past four years are any indication, we're going to get a lot more of the same. Protestors caged in razor-wired "Free Speech Zones", warrantless searches of your email or reading matter, secret trials, indefinite "detainments" ... all paid for with your tax dollars.
The current administration has methodically and enthusiastically deprived the American people of their traditional rights. And despite the "R" after his name, George Bush has not shown himself to be an ally of gun owners, implementing the NRA's abomination "Project Exile", and publicly stating that he would have signed a renewal of the so-called "assault weapons ban". Accordingly, gun owners should not assume that they are safe from Bush's wholesale gutting of the Bill of Rights.
Not that George Bush is alone in his abuses. Both houses of Congress have signed off on reams of freedom-restricting legislation over the past session. With the GOP, who claim to be hardcore gun rights activists, firmly in control of both the Senate and the House, will we see any reversal in the trend toward more oppressive "gun control" laws? Will we see, for instance, any investigation into the Nazi roots of the 1968 "gun control" act? We're not holding our breath.
HOW FREE DO YOU WANT TO BE?
Regardless of who sits in the Oval Office or the Capitol, gunowners - indeed, all Americans - must remain wary of further infringements of their rights. Here are some things that you can do:
