US Pop. to Hit 300M
An Associated Press article ( http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/3/300_MILLION_MILESTONE?SITE=FLTAM&SECTION=US or http://tinyurl.com/jnp86 ) estimates that the US population will hit 300 million by the end of this year. The majority of the increase is expected to be Latinos -- either immigrants or born here in the US.With this in mind, now is a good time to re-read (or listen to) our speech entitled, "Recipe for an American" (http://www.jpfo.org/recipeamerican.htm). In it, we answer the questions:
- What makes an American?
- What distinguishes us and makes us proud to call ourselves by that title?
- And at what point do "immigrants" become "Americans"?Please, read or listen to our speech. Then pass it around to everyone you know, especially those who are involved in the current immigration debate. Help us educate our fellow citizens on the _real_ problem in our country. If we do not, there will come a time when we will no longer be proud to be called "American."
