The experience of one law enforcement officer rather puts into perspective the need to not be restricted on magazine capacity or ammo supply. His experience is equally applicable to the law-abiding citizen gun owner who carries.
One fairly predictable fact is that bad guys can and often may be heavily armed -- both by a variety of firearms as well as plentiful ammunition, regardless of any restrictive laws. This should make it obvious that to keep the odds on the side of the good guys, limitations on weapon choice and particularly magazine capacity only reduce the chances of a successful defensive outcome, as well as interfering with people's innate rights.
Read the details of this policeman's encounter and see how "stopping the threat" just may not be as easy as sometimes imagined.

"… their real goal isn't disarming the criminals but disarming everyone they view as potential political opposition. Some segments of gun control are aimed at producing a local electoral majority, the prime example being the Colorado bills that would cause enough pro-gun people to move out of the state to ensure a long-term Democrat majority. Others are aimed at disarming the "most probably enemy" population groups, and both political parties are guilty of that to some extent, though the Democratic party does it far more."
